BCMI began when we saw a need in our industry and built the answer to it. Concrete construction is a world of its own, and its technology solutions should come from people unafraid of getting a little dirt under their nails. Which is why we not only have a team deeply versed in your day-to-day—we also invite customers like you to put your fingerprints on every new feature and workflow in our software.

Our software story is a human one.
Years ago, Bernard Benson and Craig Yeack saw the construction industry was being left behind as software in other industries was rapidly evolving. Benson, an expert in material plant operations and optimization, partnered with Yeack, a tenured software engineer, IT leader, and service expert, to build the Bulk Construction Materials Initiative—BCMI.
This initiative brought eight bulk material construction companies together to discuss their collective technology needs. The spirit of that founding council persists today in the BCMI Customer Advisory Board, which weighs in quarterly on our product roadmap. In addition, all BCMI customers have an opportunity twice a year to share their own perspectives. With these meetings—and countless conversations in between—we uphold our commitment to creating our product with producers, for producers.
This board, our hands-on team, and our entire network of producers determine the course BCMI takes—we’ll never be beholden to faceless investors thousands of miles away. We keep one foot firmly planted in the concrete construction world—and the other planted in its future.

How we put the “initiative” in Bulk Construction Materials Initiative.
BCMI doesn’t develop software in a vacuum. We never want to lose our pulse on your day-to-day. Every BCMI customer has weekly and monthly calls with us to create better tools for our industry together. Producer focus groups zero in on specific development ideas with subject matter experts throughout the year. Bi-annual customer meetings and stakeholder meetings are active working sessions for the real experts – you – to weigh in on what’s most valuable for your business and your customers.

Craig Yeack has held leadership positions with both construction materials producers and software providers. He is a co-founder of BCMI Corp. (the Bulk Construction Materials Initiative), which is dedicated to reinventing the construction materials business with modern mobile and cloud-based tools. His Tech Talk column—named best column by the Construction Media Alliance in 2018—focuses on concise, actionable ideas to improve financial performance for ready-mix producers.
